How long did it take you to learn the basics of Java as a first language?

I know it depends on how many hours you put into studying and practicing. For instance, I know I can commit to about 15 hours a week. How long did it take you to learn enough of the basics of Java as a first language before you were ready to apply for an entry level developer or SDET job?

For me it took about 4 months to learn java basics and OOP this all depends on you how you like to learn. Some people like to learn with videos that is a really cool idea but always you need to read big fatty books about programmings beacuse they include everything you need to know for a programming language and apps like solo learn they only include some basic stuff so you need to learn more and java basics and OOP is just beginning of your struggle checkout the Java EE and you will understand why these guys gets payed so much from the big corporations and banks
