yes ofcourse reading code develop your thinking . coding is just like maths, like in math you can solve one question with different ways. if you read other's code you learn a new trick/algo to solve the question . and as you know space complexity and time complexity make a important role to develop a good software so if you read other's code and then you should analysis your code with other's code and try to improve yourself. happy coding

Yes, of course it is an effective learning method. It builds your logic + experience + knowledge base. It makes you to concentrate and understand the algorithm used in code done by other programmer. If some used some concepts in their code, you will get aware of it and try to learn it. So ultimately it boosts your learning and curiosity.
