Work Experience Related to Computer Programming?

During the Summer, I am meant to find somewhere to do work experience. I've been told it would be useful to try and choose work experience related to what I plan to do later in life.

Since I am planning on studying computer science in University, I was wondering if anyone knew of any relevant jobs/companies that I could potentially do work experience at.

If no local companies are present, try freelancing or doing competitions on kaggle, try building your own app, when applying for a job show it to the recruiters, it will show them, that you are doing it as a hobby and proficient enough for an entry level position.
