I'd recommend http://www.htmlandcssbook.com and www.javascriptbook.com to buy two good textbooks on webpage design, JavaScript, and jQuery. They're the textbooks my web design class used. They're easy to comprehend and reference, and are relatively inexpensive. Also, all of the examples the books use are available to download from those sites for free, even if you don't want to buy the books.

Sololearn has a nice tutorial. Codecademy has a fairly nice tutorial as well. If you really want a book, take a look at Cody Lindley's "JavaScript Enlightenment".
