How long will it take to learn coding?

I've finished HTML/CCS courses. Currently learning JS. I'm planning to make my own apps. But I also want to be employable in case. Let's say if I study 4-6 hours a day(solo), how long will it take?

This reminds me of a Buddhist story I once heard, which applies perfectly to what I'm thinking when people ask me this question. ******* A young man went to Gautama Buddha and sought the Master’s guidance to achieve Enlightenment, The conversation went as follows: Young Man: Master how long will it take for me to achieve enlightenment? Gautama Buddha: It all depends on you...... Young Man: If I put in ten hours of meditation every day how long will it take? Gautama Buddha: Maybe ten years Young Man: What if I put in fifteen hours meditation? Gautama Buddha: Maybe fifteen years Young Man; [getting irritated] What if I meditate for twenty hours? Gautama Buddha: Maybe twenty five years **The young man was almost infuriated.** Young Man: I cannot understand your logic—the more effort I put in, the more time it will take—this is ridiculous, Please explain. Gautama Buddha: As long as you are fixated and obsessed about your goal you will not achieve it. Just do spiritual practice without one eye on the goal. Let events take their shape. ******* As depicted in the story, you're focused on the wrong thing, and you simply being focused on how long it'll take is causing it to take even longer. Focus on what you're doing. For example, right now you're on here asking how long it'll take when you could be studying the programming language and practicing it. See what I mean? Your current actions will cause it to take even longer than it would if you were simply absorbed in what you were doing rather than what you'll be doing later.

It depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into it. Truly learning coding can take years of work. **** I would not read all of that post from @Jakob Marley if I were you. I was hoping I would beat you @Jakob Marley. <edited> just in case you won’t read it, I would, it was just a joke between the two of us. 😉 </edited>

@Jax lol I don't recall ever downvoting you before. :D Although I understand and agree with the voting system as it is, most often I'll try to help people and help them understand instead of voting against them. Some people really deserve their downvote though. lol However, I do recommend reading what I posted; it applies to many of our lives. Trust me, nothing sarcastic about my post. ;)

Dont think about time and live your life, code, go outside, have fun that's the whole point. We can all agree on that. And eat fruits, they are very important for your energy. Buddha said : "Fruits are healthy, eat fruits!" ... well honestly maybe he didn't say that but fruits are healthy that's for sure... anyway have some fruits 🍋🍉🍒🍌🍏🍐🍎🍐🍏🍌🍇🍈🍉🍋🍒🍒🍏🍏🍏🍏

I’ll probably get his downvote for saying it (nothing new there) but who cares right?

I was just kidding, no matter what anyone says I always read everything. In fact, if someone tells me not to, I often read it anyway because I’m curious. 😆

@Jax i didn't say that, the Young Man said that. However, you missed the point of the story because you're approaching it from the same perspective as the Young Man in the story. lol :D The point that was being made is that you have to control where you place your focus at and stop wasting time being focused around things that don't matter. If you're always fixated on when you'll finish, your effort and attention is being placed upon that instead of what you're actually doing; as a result it takes longer. However, if you allow yourself to become consumed by learning programming, and not focus on how long it'll take you, you'd be working on making that happen instead of being focused on when you'll be done (which leads to wasting time here asking us how long it'll take). See what I mean?

You said the more effort you put in the more time it will take, it should be the opposite.

I’ll eat nearly any fruit and have 2 or 3 different kinds a day, but the Buddha couldn’t EVER make me eat my veggies. Sweet corn? Ok, I live in Iowa so the best their is, anything else? No, just SOMETIMES carrots. Otherwise, 🤢 🤮

Ah! I see! Where he said: the more effort I put in the more time it will take: I thought you meant that’s what the young man thought, not the Gautama Buddha. I see now!
