Copying is not the right way. You can get helps from other programs source code. But you should not copy the whole part. If you memorize the codes, it will develop your programming skill. It will also save your time. Otherwise you should note all the codes in one place so that you can get helps in needs.

if you are doubg that copy&paste from a reference book/site by copying only the statements and modifying them so that they fit your program, that should be ok. but if you are copying whole parts of code from someone else without asking for permission, this can lead to copyright infringments. i would recommend you to create a text file and add parts of code which you may reuse in the future and/or are like to forget. having all your code snippets in one file can save you time, both in finding them and copy/paste to your actual program.
