Automation At Work! Any Tips?

Hello, world! I am relatively new to programing, but I am picking things up well. I recently started a new job and I want to automate everything. I currently do some tasks with Excel VBA, but I was thinking I could use something like Python. My question would be if anyone had any tips suggestions on how to manipulate different software applications with Python. Any tips on learning materials such as websites and books would be great.
