Iâm doing online college for programming while working full time in the IT field. So far the classes Iâve taken are very easy and Iâve learned more self studying. My mentor is a full stack JavaScript engineer and he said associates degree is more than enough to get you through 80% of the doors and what is more important is skill. So Iâm starting to build a portfolio now.

I got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Studies back in 1998. I've been completely self taught with programming since 1996. I seem to know quite a few other talented developers who didn't study computer science in college either. We just somehow had a natural tendency to pick this up and were lucky enough to be successful despite not studying this in college.
