Java as a Master-Base?

Is Java like the base of every programming languages? Is that true that if you know Java, then you can understand almost every other?

In my experience. I started coding on highschool with Java, then I learned VisualBasic, SQL, HTML, C++, etc... I think that Java is a solid base for begginers and a powerful tool for advance programmers... Only in my opinion

Not really. General programming languages have similarities, because they try to do similar things. So it doesn't quite matter where you start. Going from Java to C++ is the same "distance" as the other way round. That being said, personal preferences vary wildly. Also what you will not learn in Java is functional programming.

So, should I learn something else before? Or which should I learn after Java? (I'd just like to have as much knowledge as possible in quite everything(that is useful) so I can work on any(almost) programming project)
