All depends to your needs. ASP.net provides you a pre-made site with basics functionalities but it came with licence cost.

PHP is free and come with framework and CMS for fast coding.

In which language you feel comfortable ? What will be the size of your site ? Why not just use E-commerce CMS like prestashop ?

I use both of those language and I love them both. Licence cost for C# is if you want a complete IDE provided by Microsoft. Certainly it is now in free and progressively open source state so it is worth to learn it, develop with it and rocks with it.
Just not the best for this type of site because of oversized machinery.

BUT, I'm using it for +500 (same time) user connection
