Question for anybody

Hi I was wondering if there were any software developers or anybody out there that could answer this question. My question is what language do developers code in like what I mean by languages like c++, c# ect. I'm kinda new to the world of coding. What I mean by kinda new is that I took the skills that I learned to code from modding video games and now I'm taking it to the next level. I'm currently majoring in software engineering in school, I start this year and I'm a little nervous.

what coding languages people use generally depends on what they want to do. what do you want to do? game development?

you realize pretty much all languages do software dev? theres many different fields within it like backend servers, game development, app development, program development, science, ai, web automation, website development, 3D, audio etc... well if you're going to be that general, I'll just say Java. It's pretty general purpose and works on all platforms. it may not be the best but employers love it. C++ can be good if you need it to be fast.
