Android Development (What Version) - Android Studio

Hello,
Assuming I need to develop an android app nowadays, what android version should I choose for android studio project? (The users of the app can have new phones & older phones)

You mean for the emulator in the IDE? I would try Android 9+. If not that at least 4.4+

Android 7 or 8 (one of these two) started using lz4 encryption for the partition images so I consider 9 a major version jump.

I mean the lowest version of Android you want your app to support in the Minimum SDK field

Yahel Android version 4.4. This is because it's the first major version jump abd many many things before that are completely no longer supported.
