If you are a beginner in programming, focus on one language. You can still learn the other languages later.

What career? Most likely you will learn more than one, but start with the basics of one.

Is it possible to stick with just one or two for the rest of your career ?

Being a developer demands you to continuously involve your coding skills, since you need to understand the junior level and later on the senior level. Besides that new features continuously get added to the language. This goes for all newer programming languages. Another thing is new concepts are being involved as well, this adds new languages to the collection e.g. Kotlin. Go with one language in the beginning and get comfortable with it. When you get the concept. You can go for the next one If "Python Core" is getting to hard go to "Python for Beginners"
