What are the languages used in developing an web application and why?

I am trying to develop a new social media application like WhatsApp and Facebook with my team. So I need someone to guide me.
A big question in my mind is " what languages we have to use and why ? "
Can anyone help me to know the answer?

ERICK ERNEST , I‘m lerning coding and don‘t think I know it very well. After a few small projects with dart and flutter could get to know the advantages and its reliability.

Another possiblility if you want the application to run on other platforms with only one code, you should also consider c# and its very new framework .NET MAUI, which is a successor of Xamarin.
