As in HTTP method.

It is to Confirm whether a Website is Genuine. You would see this in operation on Banking Sites, Google, etcetera. HTTPS is an even more Secure Version of HTTP. ;) Disclaimer: I may be Wrong...

HTTP is an acronym for HyperText Transport Protocol. It defines the rules of communication between a user agent (generally a web browser) and a web server.

The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. It has two methods 1.
