Honestly, I don't even remember the last time I bought a physical book. However, if you're just trying to look at other people's code without theory/explanation, then I would recommend you Google open source projects for Java or Python. Then you can find a lot of good quality programs that allow you to view its source code and do whatever you wish with it. You'll learn a lot from the code, learn a lot from others and in the process you can contribute back to the community.
