Rewriting a Web Page XHTML in HTML5 with CSS3?

I am taking care of a Web Site written a couple of years ago according to xml specifications <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Is it still necessary to keep this definition? Should I rewrite it completely in HTML5 and CSS3? What do you recommend? Thanks!

Ok,thank you. So, xhtml is not necessary anymore?! And should I rewrite it from scratch in HTML5?

it is not necessary to use that statement, simply use <!DOCTYPE html> remember to also use the new HTML5 tags to have better structured (semantically) your document

it is not necessary to use XHTML ... although if you want to rewrite the entire document in HTML5 you can do it, the only thing that changes is how the browser interprets your document, it is up to you ... my advice is that you program for the future 👍
