R or Python

Question

I am planning to be a data scientist. some says R is the program that i MUST learn, some says Python is more reasonable, since it is a programming lang that can be used for further purposes. what do you recommend?

I recommend Python. It is on par with R when it comes to machine learning abilities, but beats it when it comes to neural networks-related libraries
Plus, Python is a regular scripting language which you can use in many situations, not just in one application.

sorta a non-awnser, but how about both? then you'll be ready for most teams that require one or the other!
