Most of the programming languages serve different purposes. Even for the ones that are used for almost the same purposes, they differ in one or few things. For this reason, it's difficult to tell which programming language is popular. Though most people prefer JAVA as it's platform independent.

look in this days almost every language is popular . we can say php ,java ,react pathon. but if u want to have job search your country's the must useable. for example in this days in2018 the hot language is React. I would say React is cool.
