OMG... The other relic I couldn't recall was a Sinclair. I remember the little keyboard with the covered tactile keys and thinking how cool. We used a black and white TV with UHF and VHF dials on them I believe. 😂

This conversation reminds me of the first season in Halt and Catch Fire where the competitive edge was in writing a better BIOS in the early 80s. If you haven't seen this, I highly recommend it.

LOL... I wish I still had my relics from when I was a kid. I had a TRS-80, Commodore 64, and one other I can't recall. Good stuff. 🤓

@Robert: E.T. was one of the first movies I saw in the theaters. I think I was 6 or 7 at the time.

nice to have parents to inherit from... mine believed that computers were just a fad. *my brother 69 ( now retired ) *my sister 68 ( now retired ) *my younger brother 59 ( retiring soon ) *myself 52 All saw into the future architect of computer sciences... now my sons all have degrees within the computer sciences and technologies ranging from B.A.s to doctorates.

LOL... I guess someone should attempt to answer the actual question. Alas... I must admit I am not a system developer. I've never had much interest in working close to the hardware or kernel. I would definitely be classified as a software / application developer.

ya my 2 to 10 minutes cassettes are with my sinclair and timex/sinclair setting in a box in the attic space. my Commodore pet Commodore 32 and 64 are also packed away with my first Trash 80 at my sister's house. And my first hp and ibm are at my older brother's house in Connecticut.

yup John i think we all were somewhat fans of the Sinclair My very first one was an overgrown one 1974 the smaller timex/sinclair could fit in your hand
