The point is: With every of this questions there is a bit more common thinking, that viruses are a harmless joke.

To be honest... if you have to ask about how to make a virus, you shouldn't be asking. It's not so much about it being taboo as it not being the right time for that individual.
The problem with most malware is it's simply copied code that people found and have no understanding.
Trying to learn ethical hacking for educational purposes, is like attempting to learn brain surgery before you start college. It's completely backwards.
For instance, let's say you learn about one particular virus targeting one particular vulnerability of one particular system. While this virus might help you understand how that virus works, you really haven't learned how to mitigate the attack or understand the many combinations and permutations of other variations.
Furthermore, the virus code by itself gives only a partial picture. It takes a lot of experience to identify patterns and exploits and anticipating objectives, or even what might be going on via remote control access.
Another issue with these questions is they are typically asked by people who haven't even learned to program yet.
Answering this question is like trying to explain differentials in calculus to someone who barely understands fractions. You simply avoid the question because it would be too much effort to explain in a post.

Understand how disease worked is important to know how to cure it. Yeah I agree. Every body should have tolerance if someone ask about how to make virus.

I think it isn't possible due to the java access permissions. But this isn't the objective of a programmer

Part of being ethical is knowing what is unethical. So we should learn as much as we can, malware included.

Don't we at least need to know how viruses work because they exist? why is it such a taboo asking a question on viruses?
