Changing html values with JavaScript?

I still don't get it! Why change HTML values with JavaScript when you can just write the value you want using HTML? Who understands me !?

What if your website is published and you want it to display different things based on what a user doing, are you going to rewrite it every time for each user simultaneously? hm? :p
