No doubt JS is very popular but PHP is more effective if you make dynamic websites, there are huge JS and jQuery libraries but you won't find any for PHP. So go for PHP and learn JS as well.

In common use Javascript and PHP have different purposes.... Js is a language used on client (run on client browser) while PHP run on server... Either are most knowed and supported but repeat... They have differenr purpose
