utf stands for "Unicode transfotmation format" and a number which says how many bits we use for representing of Unicode codepoints. UTF-16, UTF-8 are used in most systems. For old systems with sign bit problem used UTF-7. i don't know where may be useful UTF-5.

You mean UTF-8? Standard encoding for signs/letters.
