i think you will need just that ..... by utilising html canvas or svg elements and using javascript to add functionality u can come up with a very interesting online game ....css comes in when making the whole thing attractive .....probably u could use php to create multiplayer ability .....just go for it for the "holy trinity" is really what is needed.
