XHTML or HTML5. Which one should be learnt to become the best web designer?

XHtml was abandonned since Html5 outcomes... there's near zero reason to write XHtml code today, appart if it's mandatory for a client or an employer ^^

You may think of XHTML as a way to format your HTML in the XML way, that is, always exist as a pair of open and closing tag. Full stop.

You'll benefit from learning HTML5 as it offers a lot of features to support various browsers and there you go. 😉
