when you say worth it , what do you exactly mean , all knowledge is worth learning
but first you have to ask your self "what do you want to build ? , why do you want to learn it ? ". and the other side of the question is money or finding work.
if your asking worth learning to make money , then that is different subject.
i think if you're trying to learn prel to find a job i think it's not worth it . unless you have a specific goal in mind to learn prel , i say don't waste your time .

Perl is a useful language when it comes to where it is meant to be used.
Perl is used for CGI, system administration, network programming, finance, and other applications, like GUIs (you also see it on Linux Git a bit too). It is a very flexible and powerful language, however; it is VERY ugly.

I feel Perl is still a valuable PL for use today. Although it's impact may not be as widespread as the early CGI days, it's still practical as a command line utility and more if you want it to be. I use it on the job pretty much every other day when working on Linux CLI as a drop in replacement for both awk and sed. Here are some practical use cases for every day use:
