Data mining is the process of acquiring information and insights from the data (through synthesis, analysis and/or automate/machine learning techniques), while data warehousing or data storage is the way of keeping the data and maintaned databases, access rules, etc.

The main difference between data warehousing and data mining is that data warehousing is the process of compiling and organizing data into one common database, whereas data mining is the process of extracting meaningful data from that database.
