Not only with money! The basics of ABAP and ABAP OO are like C and C++ with some specializations. If you have some questions, post it here. If I'm able I'll answer you.

That ist not 100% right. There are different jobs in the SAP areal. You can be a consultant or a developer or a developing consultant (somebody who primary customice software, but can also develop). In the past the programming language was only ABAP. Today there are also a lot of ABAP developer, nur also Java and Javascript developer (JavaScript to build FIORI-APPs) and the developer dir HANA DB are also using Squirrel as language. In my opinion SAP wants to build there applications with the languages the other industries are also using and are not focussed to build there own language.
