there are, there are just fewer because less people use linux, so less people make viruses for it. that, and linux has the capability to be a lot safer if you control all the aspects of it.

Think about it — If your ultimate goal is to maximize the chance of infection, would you target the 90% Windows users or the mere 3% Linux users? Source: https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0

@Ahri Fox if it was true, Linux should be primary target of Malware infection, because more than 80% high end servers run on Linux today. And by the way Android is a Linux based, so now probably there are more Linux devices on Earth than Windows. @Ahri Fox wrote: "there are, there are just fewer because less people use linux, so less people make viruses for it. that, and linux has the capability to be a lot safer if you control all the aspects of it."

And 60% of mobile devices are based on Android which is Linux based, according to your link https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0 "Google claims over 2 billion users with Android while Microsoft has claimed over 1.4 billion users for Windows." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems Unix-like servers (Where is Linux too) runs 70 - 98% of public servers. So if you would be hacker would you target 70% of servers and 60% of mobile devices in the world? which is at least about 50% of all OS devices.

just like windows linux too have viruses but think that if a attacker wants to target more people would they make virus for mac or linux which have far less users than windows.
