Requirements on Android App Development

Hi everyone, I'm interested in developing my own app as something I want to do in my free time. My question is that what are the skills and knowledge required for me to be able create the app and how much time will I invest in the whole development and maintainance (monthly patches and updates)? Thanks in advance.

looks like you finished the Java course, just download android studio and play/watch videos on that. If you are looking to make games then that is different, get an engine like unreal or unity and those can build to android. You don't need experience to learn about these, could have started on day one
