If you are talking about an ordered list then you may use the <ol>and<li> tag. Here is the example.
<ol>
<li>doberiener</li>
<li>newland</li>
<li>mendeleeve</li>
</ol>
and if it is an unordered list then use <ul> instead of <ol>.
