Sonic That's a good question! When I studied there in the 1990s all lectures were held in German. I just found some info on the net where the university describes that lectures even today are predominantly in German and foreigners who come here have to attend German courses in order to be able to understand ambitious content of scientific presentations. And they are trying to do automatic simultaneous translations of the lectures by automatic speech recognition and machine translation... https://odbdegi64ni2b3m74jattyok7i-adwhj77lcyoafdy-www-spiegel-de.translate.goog/lebenundlernen/uni/dolmetscher-fuer-die-vorlesung-kit-entwickelt-uebersetzungsprogramm-a-838409-amp.html

Jan Markus [PRO_crastinator] does this place teach in English or Deutsche? http://www.kit.edu/ Many people know about American universities but I guess awareness of quality continetal European institutions is low especially amongst outsiders probably due to the language barrier. So thanks for enlightening the rest of the world about KIT and similar universities.

This is much down to personal preference. Among free and globally available MOOC options I started with Harvard CS50 that has great user friendly and easy to understand approach created by a team lead by prof David Malan.
