<p> can have content, and require a closing </p> <br> cannot have content and is self closing, meaning that there is not closing </br> ( and even less <br/> ) tag...

<br > tag is used to break the line and start from next line. But <p> is a paragraph tag. The texts written within thd paragraph tag will be considered as a paragraph.

Well, <p> will create and empty space under the end of the paragraph it is like clicking enter twice but a breaker <br> does not it's like pressing enter once.
