Could artificially intelligent computers replace programmers in the future?

will the demand for programmers decline due to a increase in supply? just a thought!

Computers by themselves aren't capable of abstract thinking, but I've seen articles on scientists integrating bacteria DNA into controlling A.I. neural flow. That may be something of potential, but it would take a long time for a full-fledged, self-sustaining A.I. with an "artificial soul" to emerge.

I've seen a neural network make code that looks remarkably like code, and could even almost run. However I think we're 45 to 200 (depending on how technology and history plays out) years away before it threatens coders. There's intent, creativity, algorithms, and planning it has to consider before it can make useful things completely on its own. As it stands, that neural network was merely imitating code from training data, not really making it by itself.

I think this will manifest in unexpected ways. As a race, we have trouble understanding exponential changes. When these show up in the news we call them breakthroughs... surprises... but they're not. The problem is in how we think about little moves. The classical 'cute problem' is a wise man who asks the king to pay him a penny today, 2 tomorrow, 4 the next day...for a month (or on 30 plots of land). The king agrees; it's only pennies. And yet...we all ought to know base-2 progression...the difference between days 29 and 30 is 5.4 million dollars. For a tiny initial change. That construct regularly applies here.

but are humans the only ones capable of abstract thinking?

right now, yes, in far future maybe we will be able to teach computers to do that, i dont know maybe using neurons nets or sth like this. But it is very far future and it's really hard idea to do;)

human brain is the only capabile of abstract thinking, imagination creativity and art, in the future, when we descover the algoritm what is involved in radom manipulation data along side standards of human being for adaptability of majority.... etc etc in one logical-mathematical formula and If quantum PC will Be possible , then computer can Be programm to feel, taste and think, now just analize
