New Answermore explanation is probably needed about what you are experiencing... but "QOS" (quality of service) is built into most consumer routers these days and it sets preferences on types of traffic (protocols in transit). Enterprise routers like ISPs use have been using QOS for years. A common setting is to prefer audio/video streams over web or email traffic. If you do a web based speed test while streaming a video you can see the effects QOS has on your internet traffic. It is by design.
