The input read by input function is a string by default so either compare your if condition as strings if answer == '1': answer1=num1+num2 print(str(answer1)) or compare it as a number (integer) answer = int(input()) # store input as number or if int(answer) == 1: your code here Also remember at Sololearn you need to give all inputs upfront as it cannot handle interactive input properly
