The "default parameters" trick is basically the use of "side effects" or also uninitialized variables. I've been told this is deprecated and bad practice. Please eliminate this from the course. Thank you.

Since you obviously get paid to LARP as mod here, you can forward them the critique yourself. Tell them they should desist from teaching deprecated programming methods. 👎😐
