I am in the optimistic camp, I feel A.I will be a great thing for humankind.
At the very least, it can't do a worse job than we have done at helping enable our fellow humans. :)

Probabbly by taking literally every job in the world. but it won't destroy us as in movies, it's a machine you have to be really stupid to let it go out of control. you can literally teach him to never reveal against you no matter what and make that statement the hearth of the ia

if ai gets intelligent enough, then why would they need us
ai will be more efficient by time with least resource consumptions and more efficient and reliable results, maybe it will optimize itself, modify it's own code or make a new language, create better algorithms that can do stuffs that we consider astronomical now.
their mission would be to reduce damage to earth or something like that, by eliminating the biggest threat i.e "humans"

I think if AI gets into the wrong hand then yes it would create a lot of problems, because i believe AI only do tasks when they are designed for a goal. If they do design their own goal and desires it's only by their emotions and surrounding, but as we know AI do not have any emotions.
So imagine this, an evil mastermind created the first superficial AI robot and its goal is to destroy buildings, the AI will scan the environment and think about ideas and solutions to destroy buildings the fastest way. The robot is an object with systematic thinking, the only tasks it has is to destroy building cause it is programmed to do so.
And now imagine this, the first superficial AI robot and its programmed to stop global warming, when it analyzes the first thing pop up in its head is to destroy humans (obviously, to follow its only goal). But if we programmed it to stop global warming and do not harm biological plants, species and nature it will analyzes and search for the best solutions without harming us.
AI bot is kinda like a calculator but a lot smarter and have a lot more power.
