Bluefish Editor is a free Editor made specifically for web development. It has some great features and shortcuts to launch pages in your default browsers. It's my personal preference for web development.

@Daniel When comparingĀ BracketsĀ vsĀ Bluefish, the Slant community recommendsĀ BracketsĀ for most people. In the questionā€œWhat are the best programming text editors?ā€Ā BracketsĀ is ranked 10th whileĀ BluefishĀ is ranked 25th.Ā The most important reason people choseĀ BracketsĀ is: Brackets will automatically refresh the browser and load the latest saved version of a file open in the browser. This works with php as well. Editing a css will even highlight the tag that's currently being worked on. However, it only works with Chrome.
