They are the abcissa and ordinates of p1 and p2 in the set of four ordered pairs, p0, p1, p2, p3. The start and end points, p0 and p3 are (0,0) and (1,1) respectively. Thus, the numbers entered into the function are for p1 and p2 to define the bezier curve.

I think it's beginning speed (0 to 1 on x then y) and same for end speed
