System vs. Application

Question

I’m confused with the difference between System and Application. We will make a cash management system and we are to utilize a mobile app. It kinda sounds like we’re just making an application

An application is any program, or group of programs, that is designed for the end user. Applications software (also called end-user program) includes things such as database programs, word processors (Word), Web browsers (Chrome), spreadsheets (Excel) etc..

However system falls under sub category of application, but again they both differ from each other, whatever you want to work on is related to database which is a management system for managing the data.
