What does it mean a Port ?

Hello Ducks. Here is a definition explaining the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

"HTTP is unsecured while HTTPS is secured. HTTP sends data over port 80 while HTTPS uses port 443[...]."

My question is, what does it mean a Port ? is it only a term used in web or even in programming or what ? How many ports are there ? Cause I heard it alot guys. If anyone have a simple explaination it would be nice from your part.
