Shudarshan Rai šŸ‘‘ is almost correct. Although, there can be different explanations.. Most of the software that we use is compiled (language dependent), but websites are not. If your software runs in a browser environment, then it can be considered as a website. There are web apps too, like google docs and many more, which behave like a software (in terms of functionality) but in browser. Then there are web assembly, when enables compiled language such as C++ to run in browser.
