Having trouble with picture sizing on wordpress, can anyone help?

Question

I have made this code, but i feel there is an underlying problem in the theme code interacting with my tags. im not sure. im using the telwentyfourteen theme, i can use help trying to re-align these pictures to fit where they are supposed to.

i also deal with a lot of white space, i believe this is from how i input my css, is there anything wrong with my css code?
