Depends e.g. on your operation system. Visual Studio will work on Windows, Eclipse is available for several OS, ...

I'm currently using PyCharm for Python. It's pretty nice, but come with a price though.

I personally use Sublime and the REPL addon for Python. Sublime alone is not enough. You will have input issues. That is why I installed the REPL addon. For C++, I use Visual Studio.

For Python I would recommend Thonny. Free to download and use: http://thonny.org/ Works on Windows, Mac and Linux

if only an editor would be wanted, Notepad++, Visual Studio Code, vi and others should also be considered. Each one has its advantages and drawbacks.
