Standard keyboard ☺1# key to switch to symbols above that there are < >, which let you switch the symbols. Go right one screen and the x becomes the |.

Personally, I recomend Hacker's Keyboard as it gives you a complete pc keyboard allowing home or arrow keys to move around like you can do on your pc. Paging up or down in the playground makes coding on a phone easier.
