Is Java still prominent in the I.T. field?

Will learning Java give me an edge in the tech field if I decide to go to school despite the fact that it's been ousted by google?

Ousted means?

Java is still highly used language and not going to die anymore. So yes it is worth to learn. It is still most demanding language even Java is also used in machine learning.
