During the course of my career (I studied computing) I saw several people who did not want to devote themselves to programming or the IT area in general. Most of them just lost their time before leaving and others who graduated will not exercise as they do not feel comfortable. Most of them were driven by their parents. Under that experience, my advice is to talk seriously with them and prove your point with basis. From my perspective it is sad that both you and they waste time or that someone engages in a profession that does not enjoy just to please someone. Again, talk to them and, with a solid base, expose your point.

in today's technology it's actually advantageous to be a doctor with programming skills. with the new Virtual Technology, MRI software, and the growing need to categorize store and statistically separate this data there is plenty of room for programmers and doctors and doctors who are programmers. this will never go down the need will only rise.

my point was more so the doctors are becoming dependent on programming and programmers. while their need rises so will their need for programmers to support their equipment.

Yes, most careers are becoming more and more dependent on programmers and their software.

Be what you want! Don't let your parents decide your life. It's yours to explore and enjoy. The fastest growing industry is technology, and programming is an excellent choice for the future, wherever you are.
