@Skayo If someone copies your open-source code and give proper credits with the distribution of a proper license/disclaimer, it obeys the guidelines written in open source licenses, and sure it would be a compliment. However, software being distributed without prior permission or proper credits to the original creator would simply be plagiarism. Replying to the original question: It is possible to patent the final product of a software, but not possible (at least in US) to patent the algorithms used within your code.

If people would ever copy your code, see it as a compliment! People use your code because it's great! Also, we're in the 21th Century. Open-source is a thing now. Even big projects like PHP, Node.js or WordPress are Open-source! And nobody copies them...
